Android 14 beta preview is now available

Google has announced the first beta version of Android 14 via its developer preview program. This means that it is now quite easy to download the beta version of the next Android update OS. You do not even have to be a developer, but you do have to own a compatible Pixel device, so nothing for a Nokia user. This is the list of eligible devices for now:

Android Phones

  • Pixel 4a (5G)
  • Pixel 5
  • Pixel 5a
  • Pixel 6
  • Pixel 6 Pro
  • Pixel 6a
  • Pixel 7
  • Pixel 7 Pro

Anyway, the final public versions are planned for later in the year.

New features – Android 14 brings some new features, which you can study in detail on the official Android developer site. Here are the most important changes:

  • Fonts will get even bigger – Google notes that users will be able to scale font sizes up to 200
  • Notification flashes – users can make the camera flash and display light up when a notification arrives (and we had a breath light a long time ago)
  • Language-related improvements – Android 14 brings many improvements related to specific languages, such as German and French
  • Regional settings – users will be able to use metric or imperial units of measurement much more easily
  • Gesture navigation will include a prominent back arrow while interacting with apps to improve gestures
  • Battery improvements – there are no big new features, but some changes like the ability for apps to kill only their own background processes, which should improve battery life

Now we just need Nokia Mobile to speed up with the rollout of Android 13!
