Nokia G20 gets a February patch

Nokia Mobile had a rather successful start to the year 2022. Nokia’s licensee for phones and tablets has announced many upcoming sub $250 USD smartphones and a KaiOS flip phone that could finally gain some traction in the US market after LG made some room. Finns announced G11 and G21 a few weeks before MWC2022, where the company further expanded its affordable portfolio with new C series devices.

This sounds and looks very promising for a company that started shipping more and more devices every business quarter. In reality, a new problem has arisen, which is the old problem. The company is unable to keep up with all the OS and security updates, and some popular models, like the XR20, still have the December patch. As Nokia XR20 has been included in its own Tough Industrial Device portfolio, this cannot be right.

However, Nokia devices are slowly receiving the latest security patches. Nokia G20 users have reported that their beloved device has received a security patch for February. The update is 29.03 MB in size and contains only the patch, nothing else. This is good news since the last G20 security patch prior to the February one was the December patch.

Although Nokia G21 seems like a worthwhile upgrade to Nokia G20, the latter can still be considered a good purchase even with the late updates.
