Nokia 8 Sirocco receives its last guaranteed software update for May 2021

Nokia 8 Sirocco

More than 3 years ago at MWC2018, Nokia Mobile announced some of the finest Nokia smartphones since the rebirth of the Nokia brand on phones. That MWC we saw the Nokia 6.1, the Nokia 7 Plus, and the Nokia 8 Sirocco. That was also the event, if I remember correctly, where it was announced that Nokia smartphones will be using Android One going forward.

Anyways, the Nokia 8 Sirocco is receiving its last guaranteed software update – the May 2021 update that comes with the Android security patch from Google. The update is around 20MB in size, with the changelog mentioning only the security update. With this update, the guaranteed support ends for the Nokia 8 Sirocco, as is also mentioned in Nokia Mobile’s update tracker.

Alongside 8 Sirocco, the guaranteed software update period expired for the Nokia 6.1 (April 2021) and Nokia 7 Plus. All three devices have received 2 years of Android software updates and three years of security patches, as it was promised back then when the phones were announced.

Thank you Mr. Kroniks for the tip. 🙂
