Nokia 7.2 appears on Geekbench running Android 11

Lately, Nokia Mobile’s Daredevil, or better, the Nokia 7.2, has been very unlucky with the monthly security patches (SP). The smartphone had not received any update after the March SP until it received the April security update two days ago.

While the company prepares the May and June SPs, the Nokia 7.2 is also nearing the scheduled period for receiving its final Android OS upgrade. As per the revised roadmap, the Nokia 7.2, alongside Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 9 PureView, will supposedly receive Android 11 sometime in the mid-third quarter.

It seems that Nokia Mobile has commenced testing the feature update as the Nokia 7.2 showed up on Geekbench operating on Android 11 for the first time. The 4 GB RAM variant scored 1232 in the multi-core test and 325 in the single-core test. The scores are somewhat less compared to Android 10, but Nokia Mobile will possibly fine-tune the update by the time it comes out.

Not to be forgotten that Nokia Mobile has missed the designated time for bringing the Android 11 to Nokia 1.3, Nokia 1.4, Nokia 3.4, Nokia 5.3, and Nokia 5.4. The company is also late with the security patches for Nokia 6.2, which is still stuck with March SP. Software delays happen, but the thing that is irking the consumers is the lack of communication from HMD Global’s end.

The only time we heard something from the company regarding updates was in April when Adam Ferguson, the Head of Product Marketing at HMD Global, said, “The delay has to do with Nokia (Mobile) not being part of the Android Developer Program for Android 11.” He also added that they intend to have most of the Nokia phones on Android 11 by April, which is certainly not the case.

Hopefully, the company will release the updates soon, and if not, will give a proper response sharing the progress of the updates. Feel free to share your views in the comments section below.
