Rumor: Info about Nokia Mobile’s MWC2020 lineup revealed

Tomorrow, Nokia Mobile will be holding a launch event in Cairo, Egypt, where we expect to see at least one new device placed in the budget segment. Nokia Mobile’s CPO Juho Sarvikas yesterday at the Snapdragon Summit announced a 5G Nokia smartphone coming next year. So, exciting time for Nokia Mobile is ahead of us, with MWC 2020 just around the corner.

A tip we received indicates that Nokia Mobile made quite a few changes in their plans for the second half of 2019 regarding device launches. The rumored Nokia 5.2 was delayed, while the rumored Nokia 8.2 (with 4G) has been allegedly cancelled in favour of greater focus on the 5G variant.

At MWC2020, Nokia Mobile might announce the 5G Nokia 8.2 that was teased by Juho Sarvikas yesterday. The Nokia 8.2 5G, besides supporting 5G, will come with a pop-up front camera centrally placed at the top of the device, similar camera configuration to Nokia 7.2 (but better), curved bezelless display, dedicated MicroSD card slot, battery with 4000mAh capacity or more, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The 8.2 5G should also have notification LED in the power button, according to our tipster, which indicates that the side-mounted fingeprint sensor won’t be pressable, like on some other devices that use it or maybe there will be a Google Assistant button with the LED? Good news is the inclusion of the 3.5mm headphone jack, 4+64, 6+128, 8+256GB memory variants and a starting price of 420 US dollars.

Alongside Nokia 8.2 5G, at MWC2020 Nokia Mobile should release the new Nokia 1 and the long awaited Nokia 5.2. It’s interesting that the tip also mentions a new device from the “Originals” series, which begs the question which iconic device will Nokia Mobile reincarnate next?

Regarding tomorrow’s event, we should expect Nokia 2.3 and a feature phone to be announced. The Nokia 9.1 is planned for somewhere in mid 2020 with a “bezelless” display. More details weren’t shared at the moment.

I have to remind everybody that we categorise this as a rumor, so don’t take it as 100% confirmed. Nokia Mobile often changes its plans, based on the market situation, so some devices planned right now might drop off in the future. Anyways, the “Nokia 8.2 5G” or however Nokia Mobile might call it (see Tweet above) got me excited. A possible good-looking 5G phone, with MicroSD slot, 3.5mm jack and a decent price seems attractive to me. Time will tell if the provided info is true and what Nokia 8.2 5G will turn out to be in the end.
