Counterpoint Research released their smartphone market research for the second quarter of 2021 and kindly provided to us the data how Nokia Mobile performed in Q2 2021.

In Q2 2021, the Nokia brand remained the second biggest brand in terms of market share on the feature phone market, with Nokia Mobile grabbing 18% of the market share. The number of shipped feature phones decreased compared to previous quarter by 8%, which means that approximately 10.1 million units were shipped.

In terms of smartphones, Nokia Mobile did see an improvement in shipments of 36% compared to Q1 2021, driven by the new Nokia 1.4, G and C series devices. That means that approximately 2.7 million Nokia smartphones, based on my calculation from previous periods, were shipped, enough to capture 0.8% of total smartphone marketshare. That is an increase from 0.5% the quarter before, and ranks Nokia Mobile as the 18th biggest smartphone maker, a one place improvement compared to Q1 2021.

In Q2 2021 the global smartphone market grew 19% compared to the same period last year, with 329 million units shipped. The biggest individual brand remained Samsung, followed by Xiaomi, Apple, Oppo, and Vivo. When we combine different brands from the same manufacturer, in this case BBK – the Chinese company is the biggest smartphone vendor two quarters in a row.
