Four new Nokia laptops certified in India, one with i7 processor and 16 GB RAM?

Nokia PureBook X14

In December 2020, Nokia made an unpredictable entry into the laptop segment. The BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification of the Nokia laptops in 2020 mentioned not only one but nine laptop models in total. More than two months have passed since then, but only one PureBook has made it to the market as of now, and it is the Nokia PureBoox X14.

Now, another BIS certification of Nokia laptops appeared on March 1. It includes a sum of ten models, of which four are new, while the other six already appeared in the earlier certification. Previously, the seventh character in all the model numbers used to be the letter ‘U’ that possibly meant Ultra, but now it is ‘T’ (for Thin?).

Interestingly, the document also mentions a different manufacturer than what it was last year. It has now changed from Tongfang HongKong Limited to China Greatwall Technology for the upcoming laptops.

The Nokia PureBook X14 has the model number NKi510UL85S and comes with an Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, and 512 GB of storage. So it is safe to assume that as per the model numbers, the third and fourth characters (i3, i5, or i7) describe the processor, and the ninth character (4, 8, or 16) means the amount of RAM.

Also, the second character (1, 2, 5, or 10) from the end possibly means the amount of storage, for example, 1 for 128 GB, 2 for 256 GB, 5 for 512 GB, and 10 for 1 TB. Therefore, the specifications stated besides the model numbers below are based on the reasoning mentioned above and need not necessarily be true.

Note: Format for the first six laptop models below: Old model number -> New model number.

The laptop models mentioned in the new certification are as follows:

  • NKi310UL41S -> NKi310TL41S (i3 processor, 4 GB RAM, and 128 GB storage)
  • NKi310UL42S -> NKi310TL42S (i3 processor, 4 GB RAM, and 256 GB storage)
  • NKi310UL82S -> NKi310TL82S (i3 processor, 8 GB RAM, and 256 GB storage)
  • NKi310UL85S -> NKi310TL85S (i3 processor, 8 GB RAM, and 512 GB storage)
  • NKi510UL82S -> NKi510TL82S (i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, and 256 GB storage)
  • NKi510UL85S -> NKi510TL85S (i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, and 512 GB storage) [Launched]
  • NKi510TL85SI (i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, and 512 GB storage) [New]
  • NKi510TL165SI (i5 processor, 16 GB RAM, and 512 GB storage) [New]
  • NKi710TL85SI (i7 processor, 8 GB RAM, and 512 GB storage) [New]
  • NKi710TL165SI (i7 processor, 16 GB RAM, and 512 GB storage) [New]

The laptop models that were there in last year’s certification but not this time are:

  • NKi510UL810S (i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, and 1 TB storage)
  • NKi510UL165S (i5 processor, 16 GB RAM, and 512 GB storage)
  • NKi510UL1610S (i5 processor, 16 GB RAM, and 1 TB storage)

The reason behind the delay of the other Nokia laptops after the PureBook X14 is best known to Flipkart. Maybe the change in manufacturer prompted Flipkart to wait for these many months. Or maybe the company wanted to be sure of the response of the Nokia laptops before launching the whole series and thus launched only one model last year.

Now that the Nokia PureBoox X14 has been received well by the consumers, Flipkart is gearing up to launch more PureBooks. Apart from that, Flipkart will soon venture into the earphones segment with the new Nokia wireless earphones (T3110).

Within a year and a half since its first association with Nokia, Flipkart will now become the brand licensee offering the widest range of Nokia products. Flipkart currently sells Nokia Smart TVs, streaming devices, laptops, and ACs in India. Earphones will be there in the list soon.
