Nokia 7.1 spotted running Android 11

Nokia 7.1 is a beautiful device (except Nokia Mobile ruined its looks with that wide notch) released back in 2018 with Android 8. Over the years this device got two major software updates, Android 9 and Android 10, which means that there is no chance of it getting Android 11. Nokia 7.1 is running Qualcomm SDM636 Snapdragon 636 which could run the latest update, but is seems likely that Nokia Mobile will update more devices than it can. The device isn’t even listed on the official Android 11 update roadmap that was released in October 2020.

Anyways, someone has been fooling around with its Nokia 7.1 and managed to install Android 11 on it as spotted by Venkatesh. The Geekbench test from April 12th, shows that Nokia 7.1 managed to score 267 points on a Single-Core and 1138 points on Multi-Core test. The result is pretty much the same as Nokia 6.1 Plus scored running Android 11, better than Nokia 4.2, or just slightly better than Nokia 3.4., or definitely better than the latest Nokia G20.

Anyways, I don’t think that Nokia 7.1 as well as Nokia 6.1 Plus will be getting the latest OS update, but it would be nice if bootloader would be unlocked so the devs and all the folks that are willing to play with their devices could install it. Of course, we probably won’t be seeing that also.

Thanks Venkatesh for the tip and the link!
